Universal Credit - Help To Claim Adviser

The Role

Citizens Advice is set to deliver a new service called “Universal Support: Help to Claim” which offers end-to-end support to help people make a new Universal Credit claim and be ready for when their first payment arrives.

We are looking for a telephone adviser with good IT skills to support clients on a Monday from 9am to 5pm to make and complete their new Universal Credit claim, as well as a commitment to the aims and principles of the Citizens Advice Service.

You’ll have the ability to interview clients using sensitive listening and questioning skills over the telephone to get to the root of the issues and empower clients, whilst maintaining structure and control of telephone conversations.

This is a fixed term role, the fixed term ends 31st March 2020

The role is for 8 hours per week, worked on a Monday between 9:00am - 5:00pm

The salary for this role is between £8.50- £10:00 per hour

Advice Session Supervisor

We are looking for a knowledgeable, experienced, committed, person to join the team and provide advice session supervision 2 days a week,

You will need to be dynamic, with strong computer skills and the ability to support volunteers who are less computer literate, able to support advisers and schedule the busy day

You will be a trained Advice Session Supervisor or you will hold a Generalist Advice Certificate who is willing to complete Supervisor training. We will also consider applicants who have experience of working in the advice sector and in addition have experience of managing volunteers.

You will have excellent communication skills, a flexible approach and enjoy working as part of a lively, busy team. Ideally will have experience in supervising volunteers but not essential. You will have the ability to manage and motivate volunteers, including assisting with their development. You will have the ability to ensure best use of IT systems and packages is made by your team in the provision of advice services.

Terms and Conditions

This is a fixed term role, the fixed term ends 31st March 2020

16 hrs per week 9:00am - 5:00pm Tuesday & Wednesday, with a half hour lunch break.

The salary for this role is between £10:00-£11:00 per hour
